July 2025. Drs. Aleah Brubaker & Peter Than were awarded the Pearl Hannah Memorial Scholars award which is a $100,000 grant over 5 years to support our Transplant Revitalization Lab. 

September 2025. Dr. Peter Than was awarded a pilot grant ($50,000) from the REIMAGINE Center for a project titled Ex vivo modulation of kidney allograft function with engineered cell-specific gene-editing extracellular vesicles.

April 2024. Gerald P Morris MD PhD (Pathology) awarded MPI (co-PI Michael Khuns PhD, University of Arizona) R21 award for the project, “Use of allogeneic pMHCII-based 5MCAR-CTLs to eliminate alloreactive lymphocytes in transplant".

June 2024. Aleah Brubaker MD PhD (Surgery) awarded ASTS-TransMedics Faculty Perfusion Grant for the project, “Expanding utilization of DCD liver allografts with prolonged warm ischemic injury by defining the role of normothermic machine perfusion on PPAR signaling and HSC-mediated fibrosis".

July 2024. Gabe Schnickel MD, Aleah Brubaker MD PhD, Mita Shah MD, and Sheri Hartman PhD awarded UCSD Chancellor’s Interdisciplinary Team Catalyst Award, “Catalyzing Collaborative and Transformative Change in Organ Donation”.

August 2024. Clarkson Crane MD (Pediatrics) awarded a KL2 Institutional Mentored Scientist Career Development Award for the project, “Prediction and monitoring of T cell alloreactivity in kidney transplantation using PIRCHE-II and Snowflake computational approaches based on high-resolution HLA genotyping".
