Chair's Message
Healthcare delivery is evolving rapidly. Pathologists are responsible for almost all diagnostic tests that involve analysis of tissue specimens, blood samples, and other body fluids. Pathology laboratories conduct the genome sequencing studies that support patient care. Furthermore, we oversee blood transfusions and bone marrow transplantations.

Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine
The Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine (CALM) is a 90,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility that will house a majority of the UC San Diego Health System’s Clinical Laboratories.

Physician Wellness focuses on fostering a supportive environment that promotes the health, well-being, and resilience of medical professionals.
Visiting Elective Scholarship Program
This scholarship was created by the Pathology Department's Committee on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and is specifically geared towards supporting those with limited resources and those who represent an underrepresented group in medicine.
Training Programs
Residency Program
The Pathology Residency Program offers distinct training programs in the areas of General Training, Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine, Anatomic Pathology, Neuropathology, and a Research-Residency option.
Pathology Fellowships
Fellowships are available in the areas of Cytopathology, Gastrointestinal/Liver Pathology, Hematopathology, Molecular Pathology, Neuropathology, Surgical Pathology, Gynecologic/Breast Pathology, Clinical Chemistry, and Research.
