Module-Based Learning

While we strive to provide in-person and hands-on training in all areas of Pathology, we also recognize that supplement educational resources can best prepare our trainees for the Boards. We provide access to two module-based certifications offered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and require completion prior to graduation:

Lab Management University (LMU)

The LMU Program is a certificate program focusing on the five competencies of lab management:

  • Personnel Management
  • Financial Management
  • Operations
  • Informatics
  • Compliance

University of Pathology Informatics

The UPI Certificate Program consists of 20 custom courses: 12 core and 8 elective courses are required to earn the certificate. This is a case-based program, where you act as the project leader developing a pathology informatics needs assessment for a laboratory. It focuses on four essential laboratory informatics competencies:

  • Information Fundamentals
  • Information Systems
  • Workflow & Processes
  • Governance Management
